Brookhaven NY- On the evening of December 2nd despite some rain the Brookhaven Fire Department held their annual Christmas tree lighting at their headquarters on Montauk Highway. The event was held not just for members of the department but the community was also invited out via messages on social media as well as messaging on the electronic signs in front of the station.
The ceremony began at 7 PM with Christmas carols being sung by Bellport High School Choir members. The caroling generated a great response as the community members joined in and culminated with the lighting of the tree on the front lawn of the station. After the tree lighting a special guest Santa Clause and his helper Buddy the Elf were escorted up to the building and greeted all the little kids at the fire house and even allowed them in the sleigh for family members to take pictures. A great time was had by all those that attended.
